After qualifying for the second round of the Bridport Bowl, Came Down B were away to

top seeds, Isle of Purbeck.

A wet and windy day which made the task even harder!

We lost narrowly 3-2 in a close fought match. First out were the unbeaten pairing of

Captain Paul Rogers and Nigel Whitefield. The match was all square after 13 holes

but two pars and a birdie by Purbeck over the next 3 holes meant they lost 3-2.

Next out were club captain Mick Hogben and Mike Talbot playing against Purbeck Club Captain Hayden Sparkes and his partner. Unfortunately never getting to grips with the conditions or opponents they lost by a dog licence 7-6.

Third out Lynn Stockham and Anth Membury looked as though the same fate awaited them, quickly going 5 down but fighting back to go all square by the 17th hole and nearly gaining a fine win but having to settle for a half.

The next pair out were Andy King and the evergreen Charles Foster, after a tight affair they were all

square going up the 18th fairway with Charles sinking a 10 foot putt for a par leaving their opponents to make a 6 foot putt for a half which agonisingly just dropped in earning them a half. Last out were Mick Gardner and David Shaw. After a marathon 5 hours and 20 minutes they appeared out of the mist after several search parties were sent out to find them! With their opponents missing a 5 foot putt for a half the Came pair won 1 up.

Despite losing 3- 2 The team gave Purbeck a hard match considering they had not lost a game in their previous two matches.
