Match report of Hardy B league game of Came Down v Ferndown Forest, 15/06/19

Less than 1 week since we played at home to Ferndown, we were back on our home course for a Hardy B match, this time against Ferndown Forest.

We were very lucky, as following very heavy rain in the morning, out came the sun for a very pleasant afternoon of golfing.

First off, Mark Bonnett & Paul Walker. 3 up after 4 holes, they slipped back to only 1 up after 10. A row of fine pars, soon had our first points as they were back in the clubhouse with a great 4 and 3 win.

Next out Dave Shaw and Jon Parvin making his season debut at Hardy B. Despite there best efforts, they ran into one of Ferndown Forests in form guys, who went onto shot a net 63! They slipped to a 2 & 1 loss. Now the match was all square.

Ross Sandercock and Zak Killian were back playing together as Came’s third pair. A lovely birdie by Ross on the 4th hole put Came 3 up. Ferndown Forest fought back over the next few holes to only be 1 down after 11. But with Zak hitting 5,4,5,6,4 & 4 the game was wrapped up on hole 16 with a 4 & 2 win.

Came were now 2-1 up, needing another win for the match.

The now fixed pairing of Marcus Simpson and Roger Chadwick took up their normal place of 4th pair for Came. This will go down as their very best yet, 6 up after 8, these 2 just get better playing together and were back in the clubhouse in record time recoding an 8&7 win! Assuring Came of the Match win.

Final pair of Steve Watts and Captain Stewart Green, had their work cut out, being 2 down after 3 holes. But did not panic as Steve (Snip) won holes 4 and 5 to get the game back to all square. Down again after 8, level after 9, down again after 11, they kicked into action winning holes 12, 14 and a fine 3 by Stewart on 15. The game was put to bed on 17, for a fine 2&1 win.

Final result: 4-1 win for Came, who remain unbeaten in the league after 3 matches.
