Came Down Golf Club – Ladies’ 36-hole Championship

Came Down Golf Club’s Ladies’ Champion for 2020, winning the Dora Hutchings Cup, was Sue Stokey with a combined gross score of 176 (87:89).  Sue said the course played well from tee to green and although the greens were fast, it made quite a challenge for everyone.  The Runner-up was Sue Cox on 179, from Gaye Thompson with 180.

Best Gross in the morning was returned by Gaye Thompson with 86, and in the afternoon Sue Cox took the honours with a gross 85.

The winner of the Nett Trophy, the Who’s A’fear’d Cup, was Jenny Feely.  In the morning Jenny returned an excellent score of Nett 67.  Jenny said that everything went well for the first round, a couple of long putts went down and she managed to avoid the bunkers!  Her 2nd round score was 82, a combined nett of 149.  Runner-up was Sarah Wharmby with 153 from Sue Stokey 156.

Second Best Nett in the morning went to Gaye Thompson with 75, on count-back from Sarah Wharmby.  In the afternoon, three players finished with a Nett 75, but winning on count-back was Lynda Walker, from Rhose Lawes and Sarah Ayling.

The ladies played on a glorious day and thanked Derek Parker, Head Greenkeeper and his staff for the excellent condition of the course.
