At Came Down Golf Club, the fairways are only part of the story. While our 18-hole downland course offers a rewarding challenge, it’s the clubhouse that truly brings the club to life. With panoramic views over Dorchester and the surrounding countryside, the clubhouse provides an idyllic spot to relax, watch the sun set and enjoy the atmosphere, whether you’ve just finished a round or are popping in to socialise.

A Hub for Socialising and Community

Our clubhouse is the beating heart of the club, where friends, families and colleagues often gather to catch up, share stories and make new golf buddies (or rivals)! Events, quizzes and social nights provide the ideal opportunity to meet others and enjoy some fun outside the game.

It’s a space designed for connection, conversation and community, and it’s open to everyone – you don’t need to be a member or even play golf to visit. From casual coffee breaks to hearty meals and lively events, it’s a place to unwind, enjoy good company and make the most of the beautiful surroundings.

Meet the New Faces: James & Nina

This season, we’re delighted to welcome our new clubhouse managers, James Humphreys and Nina Jones. With experience in the hospitality sector, they bring fresh energy and ideas to the club. While new to the golf scene, their focus is on providing high-quality, delicious food at affordable prices and ensuring a consistently welcoming experience for all.

Members are encouraged to introduce themselves and welcome James and Nina as they settle into their roles, with menus designed for match days, society events or casual visits.

We Have a New Menu!

Even if you’re just stopping by for a bite, there’s plenty to try on our new golf themed menu. Highlights include flavour-packed Bunker Baguettes, Big Swing Burgers and The Putter’s Pick Pizzas.

We run a fully licensed bar serving draught beers, a tempting wine list and a range of non-alcoholic drinks. The catering is run in-house, allowing us to maintain high standards and our head chef, Kevin, ensures fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Whether you’re after a light lunch, a snack between holes or a more substantial meal, the clubhouse offers something for everyone.

The terrace is ideal for casual dining, with stunning views over Dorchester and the countryside. Watch the sun sink behind the hills while enjoying a drink or a meal and take in the peaceful surroundings.

Upcoming Events

Summer may be over but our clubhouse is buzzing with events this season:

  • Enjoy a Sunday Roast, Sunday 14th September, Sunday 28th September, Sunday 12th October & Sunday 26th October – kick off roast season in style with a 2-course meal for £20, including homemade dessert. Vegetarian option available.

  • Quiz & Curry Night, Thursday 25th September, Thursday 23rd October & Thursday 27th November – test your general knowledge and enjoy a delicious curry for £12, with a £2 quiz entry.

  • Macmillan Cake Day, Friday 26th September – homemade cakes all day; every bite helps support Macmillan Cancer Support.

  • TV & Film Quiz Night with Pizza, Thursday 9th October – challenge your screen knowledge over pizza, garlic bread and chips for £12, with a £2 quiz entry.

  • Music Quiz & Burger Night, Thursday 6th November - Know your Bowie from your Beatles? Join our music themed quiz night with a homemade burger and chips on the side.

  • Christmas Parties with Homemade Christmas Dinners Begin, Monday 17th November.

… and so much more, including our End of Year Party on 27th December and even a Beer Tasting Evening (date TBC).

Society Packages & Bespoke Options

We welcome societies, corporate groups and group bookings of 12 or more throughout the year, with clubhouse catering included in every package. We can also create bespoke packages to suit your group’s needs, from coffee and bacon rolls to a full-course meal.

Society packages for 1st April – 31st October 2025 are:

  • 18 holes – £55 per person

  • 18 holes + coffee and bacon roll – £57 per person

  • 18 holes + full English breakfast – £62 per person

  • 18 holes + coffee and bacon roll + 1-course meal – £67 per person

The clubhouse can also be hired for private events, ideal for parties, celebrations or gatherings, with stunning views and a friendly, welcoming team.
